The Fourth of July came in fast and furious! Phew!! Planning family get togethers and still trying to run the house, 3 dogs and 2 businesses can get pretty hectic! (Thank goodness my boys are older and not toddlers, I don't know how some of you ladies do it.. By the end of the weekend I was ready for a vacation!!) BUT... I made it through! Thankfully!!! Now that it's over, it's time to get to work and get some of these task taken care of that I put off until after the Holiday!! (Why I did that, I'm not really sure. Let's just say, My son gets it honest!!)
Sometimes life gets really busy. (Or does it?) Sometimes I get frustrated that I didn't get things done that needed to be done... But then I look at my actual progress and think, Well what the heck have I even been doing??? When I stopped and really thought about what I had done vs. what still needed done, I found that I was wasting a lot of time on a lot of nonsense!! That will happen when you work from home. I found that I have to be careful with my distractions. Direct Sellers need to have a strong sense of self-discipline in order to run a business from the Internet. The closer it got to the holiday, the more I was slacking on that. When you are answering only to yourself, it is crucial to eliminate distractions and stay on task for both your daily and long-term goals . I know this BUT... This is so hard sometimes. I mean, I have Facebook asking everybody what's on their minds (we have to know, right?), I have all these game requests that need attended to/deleted, Then there is Instagram, Twitter, Youtube and Google+ to stalk! (I mean, Come on people, can we all makeup our minds on one single platform already? geesh! That gets exhausting! LOL) So.. Now I have to whip myself back into shape!! And I have the perfect solution!! LISTS!!! Yup, I find that when I make lists of things to do and give myself daily goals to get those things on the lists checked off! I get way more done and then I feel amazing to have those accomplishments out of the way! Woohoo!! Go Me!!! And then, That gives me more time to do things I want to do! Like play with makeup, go fishing or even just sit and read! (I recommend, The Slight Edge by Jeff Olsen.. BTW!)
I guess the moral of my rambling is; that If you find yourself not getting things done that you are supposed to be getting done, Look at what you are actually doing! Are you putting things off?? Are you focused on time wasting activities instead? Is it really necessary to be doing what you are doing? Make yourself a list of what really needs done and set a goal to check off at least 3 of those things! You will get sooo much more done and you will be such a happier person to have a little free time to do the things that YOU want to do!! Time management doesn't have to be hard! It just takes a little learning and discipline!! And LOTS and LOTS of sticky notes!!
